Ruine Schloss Waldenburg

Important information: Stones are coming loose from the walls of the historic Waldenburg castle ruins. For this reason, access to the tower is currently closed. Access to the site is very limited.

A picturesque ruin on a craggy rocky ridge, a view of the Folded Jura - the steep hike and climb to the top of the tower are definitely worth it! From up here, the powerful Counts of Frohburg controlled the Upper Hauenstein Pass and the ore districts. Even 1000 years ago, location was everything.

Waldenburg is easily accessible from Liestal on the Waldenburg railway.
