Carnival – the fifth season. Large carnival parades take place in various villages, where pipers and drummers, Guggen bands, and float cliques perform their respective themes. The Morgenstraich, Guggen concerts, and other customs such as the Chluriverbrennung also take place around the carnival days. In the cantonal capital of Liestal, the Chienbäse parade is held – a fire spectacle of a special kind.
