Castles and Palaces in Baselland

In hardly any other region of Switzerland is the density of castles as high as in Baselland. Around 80 castles, palaces, and ruins dot the hilltops, rocky outcrops, slopes, and valley floors of the 'Baselbiet'. These numerous castles, as witnesses to times past, are not only fascinating for archaeologists, fans of knights, and history buffs, but also make for perfect hiking destinations.
