The circular route passes through landscapes in Baselland and the Schwarzbubenland region of Solothurn with wonderful panoramic views, dense forests, and historic places. The highlights are undoubtedly the castles that rise along the route. From impressive castle ruins to romantic water castles, each castle holds its own story. Be sure to take time to admire the impressive architecture, enjoy the views from the towers, and explore the legends surrounding these structures.

The diverse cycling route starts at the station in Aesch (BL). Several highlights await within the first few kilometers: at the monumental exposed concrete building of the Goetheanum Dornach, the notable absence of right angles is striking. Shortly after comes Arlesheim with its charming village center, the largest English landscape garden in Switzerland, and the impressive cathedral. The route then leads across wide fields to the pond castle Bottmingen with its beautiful garden and pond. It continues along the settlement border towards Leymen in France. Soon the imposing Landskron ruin beckons from afar. On the short detour to France, this castle ruin can be explored with wonderful views over the Leimental and Sundgau.

The Mariastein monastery is a place of special atmosphere and tranquility, ideal for a midday break and charging e-bike batteries. The monastery, with its impressive architecture, is set amid a picturesque landscape and offers a unique environment for moments of relaxation.

Nearby is the proud hill castle Rotberg with winding stairs, knight's hall, tower room, and magnificent views. After a ride through forested areas with lush nature, the idyllic vineyards of Klus Aesch follow. In the historic largest vineyard region of Baselland, there is the opportunity to taste local wines and enjoy delicious dishes that perfectly complement the wines.

The Pfeffingen ruin, majestically situated on a hill above the Birstal, is a historic gem. The exciting audio tour with eight audio stories offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in the past.

The refreshing final descent leads back to Aesch. Here, a culinary conclusion awaits at one of the various restaurants. Those who haven't had enough cycling yet can take a round in the mountain bike trail center at Löhrenacker.
